In Memoriam

Miranda Heijtink

In loving memory of Miranda Heijtink, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many during her time with us. Miranda battled courageously against several forms of cancer for 11 years, displaying unwavering strength and resilience throughout her journey. On November 28, 2020, she peacefully passed away, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Beloved mother of Rominy, Bradley, Deshley, Stanley and mother-in-law of Lotte. Also she was a very dedicated and beloved wife. Her dedication and love for her family knew no bounds, and she found immense joy in watching her children grow and thrive. She was a pillar of support, always there to provide guidance, comfort, and encouragement.

Miranda had a deep affinity for animals, particularly horses and dogs. Ever since she was a little girl, she found solace and happiness in riding horses. Her beloved Frisian horse, Troy, was a source of immense joy and companionship throughout her life. Additionally, Miranda and her daughter co-owned a sweet and loyal horse named Roy, further deepening their bond.

Throughout her life, Miranda shared her home with several cherished dogs who brought endless happiness and unconditional love. From the playful Yorkshire terrier named Sara to the protective English Bull Terrier named Bully, from the gentle Golden Retriever named Sanne to the ever-loyal Labrador Retriever named Roxy, Miranda’s home was always filled with the warmth and companionship of her furry friends. Her canine family also included the affectionate English Cocker Spaniel named Loeka, the steadfast German Shepherd Ayden, the spirited Malinois Xhiva, and the devoted German Shepherd Cosy.

Love for furry friends

Miranda’s love for animals extended beyond her own pets. She was a staunch supporter of various charities dedicated to animal welfare. Her compassionate nature and deep concern for the well-being of all creatures drove her to make a difference, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.

Among her many charitable endeavors, Miranda became particularly passionate about the plight of stray dogs in Sri Lanka. Since her husband was traveling to Sri Lanka for business, she learned about the challenging situation they faced, her heart was immediately filled with concern.

Because of her enormous concerns, this foundation was established, with the aim of protecting, caring for, training and, if possible, rehabilitating the stray dogs. Medical care will be provided, sterilization and/or castration if necessary. Everything in good cooperation with local veterinarians and in consultation with the (local)authorities. At the same time, we provide housing and jobs for local residents.

Founding MH Foundation

Her memory will continue to inspire others to be kind, compassionate, and unwavering in their pursuit of making a difference.

As we bid farewell to Miranda, let us carry her legacy in our hearts and continue to support causes she held dear. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
